STILL ORGANIZING AND PURGING - GIVE AWAY 1000 THINGS

It's been a long time since I've written about what's going on in my life, and it's because nothing has changed! I'm still always organizing and trying to organize, and purge stuff so that I'll have time to be creative. I must be my own worst enemy in the project, though, because it's so ongoing.
I don't connect my iPad or iPhone to my computer, so it would take some major creative and thoughtful effort to show pictures of the current situation. It's not as bad as it's been in the past, so that's something. I'd like to get my rooms back, and I'd love to see some empty corners.

To my credit, I've gotten rid of a lot of stuff. It's a major challenge and I've been thinking about coping strategies:

1) Only have stuff that I picked out or bought myself.
2) Give away 100 items, then 20 items per week thereafter until it's done.

Those are the only ones I have. The problem with number 1 is that I'm sentimental about so much stuff that I didn't pick out or buy myself.
The problem with number 2 is that so much of the stuff would be great at a yard sale.

The solution is going to be an early spring driveway sale. I'll collect the stuff in boxes in the corner of the living room, and early in the spring I'll haul it all out and sell it.  At the same time if it's not deemed sale-able, I'll give it away now.

It's a couple of days later and I've had a new idea. I will give away 1000 things. Last Wednesday I took 30 things to Goodwill, and there are 43 things ready to go in the foyer now. If I can find 28 more today, I'll be up to 100 and on my way to the 1000.  Here goes!
I am also going to try to NOT have a spring sale.
