FALLEN BEAUTY

Fallen Beauty by Erika Robuck - Fictionalized biography.  This crazy new genre where an author gets to take all kinds of liberties in writing about someone famous.  In Fallen Beauty, that famous person is the poet Edna St. Vincent Millay.  She is a secondary character to the heroine of the story, Laura Sullivan, who gets herself in trouble, then bravely faces the consequences of her actions as she goes about her life in a small close minded New England town during the Jazz Age.  The contrast between Laura's life and Edna's life is vast, but they cross paths, and their interactions form the meat of the story. I didn't know a thing about Edna St. Vincent Millay, but she apparently lived quite the life.  I chose this book by its cover and didn't go wrong.
